What options do I have for my cataract surgery?

We believe that the best technology in the right hands makes all the difference. That’s why more doctors and healthcare providers turn to the specialists at ClearView Eye Clinic for their eye care and for the care of their patients. It’s also why other eye surgeons and doctors travel from different parts of the county to observe and learn from our surgeons who are eager to share their knowledge and expertise. And it’s always with the patient at the very center of their concern. Patients just like you.

Monofocal Lens

A traditional monofocal lens is an advanced implant that provides improved focus at one distance. Patients can choose which distance they want: near focus, intermediate focus, or distance focus. Most patients who receive a traditional monofocal lens prefer their vision optimized for distance and wear glasses for all near and intermediate vision activities.

Cataract surgery with an advanced monofocal lens at ClearView is a very predictable, life-changing surgery that has benefited thousands of patients.

TORIC Lens

Many patients who have cataracts may also be suffering from astigmatism. Astigmatism is caused by the irregular corneal curvature of the front part of the eye and causes blurred vision. Our surgeons offer the TORIC lens implant technology so that cataracts and astigmatism can be corrected in a single procedure.

Multifocal Lens

The modern cataract patient often desires as much freedom from glasses and contacts as possible. ClearView Eye Clinic surgeons use the multifocal lens implant to achieve this goal . Our surgeons have the most experience with these lenses than anyone else around because they were the first to offer the ReSTOR and the Symfony multifocal lens implants in the Quad-cities.

Multifocal lens technology at ClearView provides the greatest vision range available in cataract surgery today. Concentric rings inside the multifocal lens create dynamic vision range at near, far, and in between. Our patients tell us that it feels like they are regaining the vision they had when they were 25 or 30 years old! For many people that have worn glasses for many years, the multifocal lens is truly a life-changing decision that seems to only get better with time.

Custom Cataract Technology

One of the most exciting aspects of cataract surgery is the advanced technology available to patients today to see more clearly than ever before after cataract surgery using Custom technologies. This involves the Lensx femtosecond laser and the ORA (Optiwave Refractive Analysis) which are both used during custom cataract surgery.

Our surgeons are honored to be the first and only to offer Custom Cataract Surgery in the Quad-cities using LenSx & ORA.

The precision of our on-site LenSx Femtosecond Laser reduces some of the common risks associated with traditional cataract surgery and is also used to treat smaller amounts of astigmatism. During laser-assisted cataract surgery, our surgeons can customize ever step of your surgery to the unique features of your eyes. This increases your chances of enjoying a more comfortable experience, a faster recovery and better final vision when compared to traditional cataract surgery. ClearView surgeons were not only the first to offer LenSx laser-assisted cataract surgery in the region, but the first in the entire state of Idaho.

ClearView surgeons were among the first in the Pacific Northwest to use a remarkable custom cataract technology called Optiwave Refractive Analysis (ORA).

ORA technology enables our surgeons to measure vision correction accuracy during the procedure so that the precise lens implant power can be verified.  The ORA device is attached to our surgeon’s operating microscope. It uses invisible pulses of light to measure your eye after the cataract has been removed but before your lens implant has been selected. The ORA provides your ClearView surgeon with real-time, precise information during your surgery so you can enjoy the best vision possible from your lens implant. Most cataract surgeons don’t have access to this special technology and can’t offer ORA. Our surgeons offer it to each and every patient.

Custom cataract surgery is not fully covered by Medicare and most insurance payers. The financial details will be discussed with you during your personal cataract consultation.
